PESHAWAR, Oct 16: Maj. Gen. Hamid Rab Nawaz, General Officer Commanding Seven Division, has said that newly elected district government and district administrations are two wheels of the new local government system while district support team of the Army would work to accelerate the new system.

He said, the new system was aimed at solving public problems in a transparent way at their door- step.

He was talking to the elected representatives of Chitral District on Tuesday during his one-day visit to this far flung district. On this occasion, District Nazim, Shahzada Muhiuddin led the delegation while Brig. Khalid Butt, DCO Chitral Capt. Sikandar Qayyum, Lt.Col. Karar Hussain and Maj. Shahbaz of DST were also present. The elected representatives informed him about the problems faced by people of different areas and assured their full support to the present government’s policies.

On this occasion, General Hamid Rab Nawaz said that success of new system needs positive thinking and devotion of elected representatives besides judicious use of resources.

Referring to the development activities, General Officer Commanding said the present government during last two years, had completed a number of projects with limited resources which were pending for last many years. He went on saying that this new system could change the society in a short span of time.

Referring to understanding between elected district government and district administration, General Hamid Rab Nawaz said the present government had clearly defined the limitation, powers and responsibilities of every segment aiming to avoid difficulties.

During his one day visit to Chitral, General Hamid Rab Nawaz also inaugurated various development projects completed under Khushal Pakistan Programme that included Shali pedestrian bridge 15km from Chitral city at Garam Chashma Road, at a cost of Rs.0.6 million. He also inaugurated the newly constructed 22 bedded children ward at DHQ Hospital, Chitral costing Rs2.1 million and inspected different wards of the hospital. On this occasion, he assured provision of para-medical staff to the said hospital.

The General Officer Commanding also inaugurated computer laboratory at Government High School (Boys) Chitral. On this occasion he was told that 20 computers and five printers had been provided to three educational institutes.—APP
