US Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal has called for an “indefinite ceasefire to achieve a permanent political solution for Israelis and Palestinians”.

“The US must use all our leverage to achieve this goal,” she demanded while urging the US government to make aid to Israel conditional on following international humanitarian law.

Jayapal also quoted a relative of six Israeli hostages released by Hamas as saying on national television that “peace is our obligation”.
