KHAIRPUR, Feb 18: The Thari Mirwah police booked eight growers here on Saturday on charges of issuing threats to a farmer, Imam Bux Shar, and demolishing a watercourse.
Those who were nominated in the FIR are: Sher Khan, Qayum, Abdullah, Manzoor, Ghulam Hussain, Ali Gul, Mohammad Moosa and one other.
Mr Shar said that some persons had come to him when he was irrigating crops from a small watercourse and threatened him not to do so and demolished the watercourse.
In another incident, 14 people, including villagers and growers, have been booked by the Thari Mirwah police in a water theft case here on Thursday.
On the complaint of an official of the irrigation department, Khairpur, Mazhar Hussain Shar, police have lodged an FIR under section 353, 342, 147, 148 of the PPC against 14 persons for stealing water.
The complainant stated in the FIR that he was on a routine visit to the Ali Ganj Minor, fed from the Faiz Ganj canal, when he reached at the regulator of the minor some people who were already present at the regulator of the minor, tied him with a tree and stole irrigation water by opening gate of the regulator of the Ali Ganj minor.
Those who were booked included Qurban, Illahi Bux, Ghulam Qadir, Ghulam Shabbir Rajpar, Mohammad Saleh, Liaquat, Saeed, Manzoor, Yasin, Abdul Ghafoor, Mohammad Nawaz, Ghulam Hussain and Zulfiqar.
The Thari Mirwah police raided different villages, including Sangi village, on Friday for the arrest of accused persons. However, no arrest has been reported.
FIR: On the complaint of the sub-engineer of the SCARP department, Khairpur, Mohammad Ramzan Shaikh, the A-section police lodged an FIR against some unknown persons here on Thursday evening for stealing transformer’s coils.
The complainant stated in the FIR that he was on a routine visit when he found that the transformer of SCARP tube-well No.F-109 in the jurisdiction of A-section police was uprooted and its coils were stolen by unknown persons.
