HYDERABAD, Feb 18: The agriculture department of the government of Sindh is considering to restructure the agriculture extension wing under the Agriculture Sector Programme Loan-II (ASPL-II) with a purpose to disseminate the latest crop production technology among farmers.

The Asian Development Bank will assist and provide loans for the restructuring programme.

In this regard, under directives of the Sindh agriculture secretary, a meeting was held here on Thursday with Naeem Ahmed Korejo, director general of the Sindh agriculture extension, in the chair.

The meeting was attended by experts of the agriculture extension and research and representatives of growers’ organizations.

The participants of the meeting agreed to make the agriculture extension services more effective.

They suggested increase in the number of agriculture officers and establishing of agriculture service centres at the taluka level in the offices of deputy district officers.

It also proposed to establish coordination committees comprising agriculture secretary, agriculture extension and research director general, nazims, agriculture officers and representatives of growers at provincial, district, taluka and union council levels to make effective linkages between the agriculture extension, research and farmers.

LUMHS RESULTS: The Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences in Jamshoro has announced results of postgraduate diploma examinations of October 2005.

Candidates having seat numbers six and 12 were declared successful for diploma in ophthalmology, candidates having seat numbers five and six were declared successful for diploma in otorhinolaryngology, candidates having seat numbers one, six and eight were declared successful in practical and viva-voce examination of medical radio diagnosis, and candidates having seat numbers three and five were declared successful for diploma in anaesthesiology.
