Last night, the family members of Lamis Maher Abu Arqoub gathered to welcome the 26-year-old back home in the village of Dura, south of Hebron, after her release from Israeli prison, reports Al Jazeera Mosab Shawer from Dura, occupied West Bank.

Lamis was arrested 21 days ago and charged with “contact with a hostile organisation … incitement through social networking sites” for posting in solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

She embraced her weeping parents before her nieces and nephews ran to embrace her. Lamis wiped away her tears and reassured them that she was ok.

“I’ve returned strong, see? I wasn’t scared,” she said.

Lamis’s father, who was arrested at the same time as her, suffered injuries to both legs after he was beaten by Israeli soldiers. He was released shortly after his arrest.
