Israel’s biggest supermarket chain sees ‘no big war impact’ on business

Israel’s largest supermarket chain Shufersal swung to a third-quarter profit and said that it did not expect a major impact on business from Israel’s conflict with Hamas in Gaza, Reuters reports.

The company said it earned 50 million shekels ($13.5 million) in the quarter, versus a 96 million shekels loss a year earlier when it implemented an efficiency plan. Revenue rose 1.2 per cent to 3.85 billion shekels ($1 = 3.7154 shekels).

“In the company’s estimation, no significant impact is expected on the company’s activities and results due to the war,” he said.
