The United Nations women’s agency has said it had met with Israeli women’s organisations and remained “alarmed by the gender-based violence reports” on Oct 7, when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel.

In a post on X, it called for “rigorous investigation, prioritising the rights, needs and safety of those affected”.
