ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Aamer Farooq formally inaugurated the new building of the District Court Complex on Thursday.

The construction of the complex was started in 2021 at the order of then-Chief Justice Athar Minallah. The project cost, as per the PC-1, was Rs 1,382 million.

The district judiciary has been working in highly unhygienic and makeshift arrangements for six decades in Sector F-8 Markaz.

The courts and chambers of the judges were established in small shops.

The new District Courts Complex has large courtrooms and is equipped with modern gadgets, and the courts are capable of conducting online proceedings through video link facilities.

Justice Farooq expressed hope that the bar and bench would cooperate and work hard for swift disposal of cases.

IHC Senior Puisne Judge Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani, Vice Chairman Islamabad Bar Council Raja Aleem Abbasi, and President District Bar Association Qaiser Imam also spoke at the occasion.
