26 underage drivers arrested in Attock

TAXILA: The traffic police in Attock arrested 26 underage drivers behind bars after registering cases against them.

After the tragic death of six members of a family in an incident in Lahore by an underage driver hitting their car, the Lahore High Court has directed the police to launch a crackdown on underage drivers across the province.

Incharge Traffic Police district Attock DSP Tahir Abbas the traffic police have started taking action against underage drivers by deputing additional force from district police at these places.

He said that of 26 underage drivers14 were arrested in Attock City, eight in Fatehjang and four in Jand.

Mr Abbas warned parents that they should never let their children below the age of 18 drive a car or motorcycle; otherwise, they will be responsible for their children’s future, he added.

“Building a criminal record of any child can lead to difficulties in obtaining government jobs and visas,” he added.

Meanwhile, police arrested as many as ten drug traffickers and recovered narcotics weighing over 11kgfrom their possession, a police spokesman said on Tuesday.
