RAWALPINDI: Punjab Caretaker government will provide Rs100 million for reconstruction and repair of Benazir Bhutto Hospital’s physiotherapy and psychiatric ward and the work will also be completed soon.
This was stated by Punjab Caretaker Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare and Population Welfare Dr Jamal Nasir during his visit to Holy Family Hospital and Benazir Bhutto Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Hassan Waqar Cheema and District Health Authority Chief Executive Officer Dr Ijaz Ahmed were also accompanied him.
Speaking on this occasion, the caretaker minister said the work on revamping of outpatients department of BBH is going on at a cost of Rs160 million while Rs110 million have been provided to DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi to complete the repair work of the building.
He said the 20pcof the reconstruction and renovation work of Holy Family Hospital has been completed and the deadline for the completion of this work is February, but the government was trying to complete the work before the deadline.
He said that the work of upgradation of 100 government hospitals across Punjab was going on and all necessary available resources are being provided. He said that Holy Family Hospital is being converted into a modern hospital and for the first time in the history a hospital is being closed for three months for reconstruction and renovation.
Dr Jamal Nasir said the process of handing over the custody of Mother and Child Hospital Rawalpindi to Punjab is in progress and the Punjab government is working seriously on it and the proposal to convert this hospital into a general hospital is also being considered.
He said that plans are being made to establish a burns center at the Red Crescent Hospital. The Health Minister was briefed about the expansion and renovation of Holy Family Hospital. The provincial minister visited different parts of the hospital and reviewed the ongoing reconstruction work.
