Iran’s top diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has called on Russia to play a more active role in securing peace in the region as the conflict in Gaza continues, Al Jazeera reports.

“Resistance will undoubtedly determine the final result,” Amir-Abdollahian told his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in a phone call.

According to a readout of the exchange, the two leaders mostly discussed the conflict in the strip with the Iranian foreign minister accusing the US of inflaming the war and stressing the need for an early ceasefire and urgent assistance to the affected civilian population.
