PESHAWAR, Feb 16: The Higher Education Commission has approved the “Establishment of Student Facilities” project for the Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) to augment infrastructure and academic facilities.
“The cost of the project is Rs36.27 million and it will be funded from the PSDP allocation for the HEC during the 2006-07 fiscal year,” Zabta Khan, vice-chancellor of the KUST, said on Thursday.
He said the establishment of Student Service Facilities would lead to an improvement in academic infrastructure and creation of jobs.
Under the project, he said, the university would purchase two buses with 52 seats each and two coasters.
The vice-chancellor said the university would construct a two-storey cafeteria which would b fully equipped according to international standards.
Mr Khan said that a state-of-the-art complex, which would also include a sports directorate, was also in the pipeline.
He said the construction of a bank building was also a component of the project that would enable students as well as university staff to deposit and withdraw their fees and salaries besides ensuring safe keeping of official transactions.
The vice-chancellor said projects to cost Rs9 billion had been included in the vision plan of the KUST.
The establishment of two boys and girls hostels, construction of a modern library and an examination centre would also be completed before the end of current fiscal year, he added.—APP
