Officers threaten protest over deputation issue

BATTAGRAM: A leader of Provincial Management Service Officers Association (PMSA) here on Saturday threatened to stop performing duty if their demands were not accepted.

The joint secretary of PMSA, Noman Wazir, told Dawn that they were demanding of the government to immediately repatriate officers on deputation and issue a notification for change of the nomenclature of additional assistant commissioner (AAC) to assistant commissioner (AC).

He said that in first phase of their protest, all the revenue courts would stop hearing cases across the province. In second phase, officers in the secretariat would go on leave en masse, he said. “If it doesn’t work, we will enter into third phase of protest, when the district administration will go on leave en masse,” he added.

Mr Wazir said that the association was working hard for delivery of effective services, but federal employees deliberately attempted to wreak havoc in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

He said that the current system of transfer and posting had virtually eliminated the performance of officers for obvious reasons of insecurity of tenure.

“Merit is utterly missing in the system which has affected the service delivery. For better service delivery and good governance, our legitimate issues must be addressed timely,” he said.
