LAHORE: Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Thursday inaugurated Shahdara flyovers.
He said the project was completed in less than six months instead of stipulated time frame of 10 months. Dual lane flyovers have been constructed consisting of three lanes and 850-metre long, are linked with the Shahdara main GT Road and N5. The cost of the project is Rs8.9 billion.
The CM said Shahdara flyovers would resolve the long overdue traffic problem on the main entrance and exit routes of the city. “More than 300,000 vehicles per day will benefit from the flyovers. Millions of rupees will be saved with regard to precious time and fuel of the citizens. Shahdara flyovers will be beautified through plantation and landscaping,” he said.
He said there were many issues in the design of this project.
“We took a decision in consultation with the cabinet that Shahdara flyovers project work would only start after solving the design problem of the flyovers.”
Naqvi said a bridge was being constructed to travel from Sheikhupura to the Ravi which was of little advantage.
