Food, fuel must be allowed into Gaza to support Palestinians: Canada
Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly says she is deeply alarmed by the United Nations’ announcement that their assistance to Palestinian civilians is at risk of ending due to a shortage of fuel, Al Jazeera reports.
“This is not acceptable,” she wrote on X. “Civilians must be protected and enough food, fuel and water must get into Gaza so that their life-saving work can continue.”
Joly also called for the release of all hostages held in Gaza, adding that 346 Canadians have left besieged enclave and crossed into Egypt.
On Monday, Thomas White, the Gaza chief for the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) said their humanitarian operations in Gaza will “grind to a halt” in the next 48 hours unless fuel is allowed to enter.
