LAHORE, Feb 15: The Lahore Bar Association took out a peaceful procession on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-Azam on Wednesday to condemn the publication of blasphemous cartoons in Europe.
Hundreds of lawyers participated in the procession taken out from the Aiwan-i-Adl on Lower Mall. Police tried to stop the procession, but the lawyers refused to accept the ban.
The lawyers carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans condemning the publication of cartoons marched on the Shahrah-i-Quaid-i-Azam. A number of lawyers joined the procession from the Lahore High Court as well and marched to Regal Chowk.
Addressing the lawyers at Regal Chowk, association president Imran Masood said the Organization of Islamic Countries should take notice of the blasphemous cartoons besides taking action against it on behalf of the Ummah.
He said the United Nations should also proceed against the publishers of blasphemous cartoons as it was against its charter. Muslims throughout the world should boycott the products of the countries where the cartoons had been published.—Reporter
