World leaders realise need to ‘put brakes on Israel’: Palestinian lawyer
Diana Buttu, Palestinian lawyer and former Palestine Liberation Organisation spokesperson, says that world leaders have now changed their tone towards Israel in light of the growing humanitarian crisis and the rising death toll in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.
“World leaders are now actually beginning to listen to what Israelis have been saying since the first days [of the war] when they made it clear that what they intended to do was to flatten Gaza,” Buttu told Al Jazeera.
“They have begun to realise that they have to put the brakes on Israel,” Buttu said.
“So, this changing tone is now reflective of the fact that leaders are now seeing that what Israel intends to do is simply commit war crimes and that’s it,” she added.
