UN rights chief says nowhere safe in Gaza, expresses concern over escalating violence in West Bank
UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk addressed a media briefing after his visit to the Rafah border crossing. Here is what he said:
- People in Gaza being operated without anaesthesia
- Strikes on hospitals and in the vicinity of hospitals in Gaza city particularly intense; nowhere in Gaza is safe
- Need for parties to agree to a ceasefire imperative

- Sharp increase in settler violence, takeover of land across West Bank
