SWABI, Feb 14: The teaching staff of public and private educational institutions have asked the education authorities to clarify whether the annual examination will be held in March or May.
Many teachers are confused about the date of examinations and do not quite know how to proceed because this is the important period of the academic year.
It has been reported that the NWFP education department has adopted the federal government’s reforms concerning the education sector.
According to the reforms, the examination will be held in May, announcement of the result will be on May 31, admission process will be completed during the summer vacation and the new education year will begin from Sept 1 at the end of the summer holidays.
However, some academicians told Dawn that they had not received any order in connection with education reforms.
They said they had already got a schedule from the officials concerned for the 5th and 8th class examinations which will be conducted by each school in different localities across the province.
According to the schedule, the 5th class examination will begin on March 5 and the 8th class examination from March 8, sources said.
“If we do not receive an order about a change in the examination, we will conduct the examination in March,” said a principal.
“The education department is responsible for the whole mess and the problem is that both the students and teaching staff are confused,” he said. “If the government has changed its mind then why have the officials concerned notified us about the previous examination system?’’ asked another academician.—Correspondent
