LAHORE, Feb 14: The Tahaffuz Namoos-i-Risalat Mahaz has announced that it will bring out another rally on Wednesday (today). The rally will start from Jamia Naeemia in Garhi Shahu and terminate outside the Lahore Press Club.
Speaking at a press conference here, Jamia Naeemia administrator Dr Sarfaraz Naeemi, who had also arranged Tuesday’s rally which ended in a large scale rioting, alleged that secret agencies were responsible for the violence.
Had the rioters been their workers, they would have responded to the emotional calls for peace and calm repeatedly made to them by the organizers, he said.
“The police were present there as onlookers, not intervening to prevent the violence.”
He claimed that rioting had erupted even before the start of their rally from Data Darbar after 2pm.
He said they had requested the authorities to arrange for them a security cover like they had provided to participants of marathon a couple of weeks ago.
He said legal action would be initiated against the bank guard whose firing had resulted in two deaths and injuries to several people.
He alleged that the police arrested more than 50 activists when they had peacefully dispersed from the scene.
