Police shoot ‘robber’

SAHIWAL, Feb 14: An alleged robber was killed in what police claimed to be an encounter near Chak 82/6-R on Monday night, while his two accomplices managed to escape.

According to police, Muhammad Akram and his friend Irshad Ahmed were on their way to Chak 82/6-R by a motorcycle (SLM-8782) when three robbers snatched their motorcycle near Faridia Park and fled away firing in the air.

On being informed about the incident, Fateh Sher police, along with Farid Town and Grain Market police chased the fleeing robbers on Noorshah Kacha-Pucca road. When the police intercepted the robbers, they opened fire on the party. After an exchange of fire, which continued for about half-an-hour, the police gunned down one of the robbers, later identified as Munir Oad, while his two accomplices fled away leaving behind the motorcycle and an illicit rifle near his body.

Fateh Sher police have registered two cases under sections 392, 324, 353 PPC and 13-20/65 Arms Act. The police is conducting raids to arrest the fleeing accused.
