World Food Programme Executive Director Cindy McCain has called for essential aid to be urgently allowed into Gaza, where “lives are being torn apart”.

“I’m here in Egypt at the Rafah crossing point. Gaza is just behind me. Conflict is raging. People are living in [a] horrific nightmare,” she said in a video message.
