The Israeli military has said one of its soldiers was killed in a gun battle with Palestinian fighters in Gaza, Al Jazeera reports.

The army said Shahar Cohen Mivtach served in the 9th battalion of the Armoured Corps.

According to Al Jazeera, at least 30 Israeli soldiers have been killed since Israel started its ground invasion of Gaza.
