UN relief chief Martin Griffiths has said he had the “sad privilege” of speaking to families in Gaza over the phone.

“What they’ve endured since October 7 is beyond devastating,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“And when an 8-year-old tells you that she doesn’t want to die, it’s hard not to feel helpless,” he added.
