Ex-cricketer Fahim dies

KARACHI, Feb 11: Former first-class cricketer Fahimuddin Alvi died late on Friday night due to cardiac arrest. He was 58. In a first-class career that spanned from 1967-68 to 1980-81, Fahim played in 63 matches for Karachi, Karachi University, PIA and PWD.

He scored 2538 runs (ave 29.65) and his highest score was an unbeaten 136 among three centuries.

Fahim, who took 62 catches, also claimed 63 wickets (ave 30.67) with a best of five for 32 – his solitary five-wicket haul.
