Tenders for Rani Bagh uplift

HYDERABAD, Feb 11: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has directed consultants to float tenders for the development scheme of Rani Bagh within a week so that execution of the project can be started within a month.

He was presiding over a meeting regarding development of Rani Bagh at his office on Friday.

District Naib Nazim Zafar Rajput, Qasimabad Taluka Nazim Noor Mohammad Shoro, town planning director Arif Memon and other officers of the HDA attended the meeting and discussed the schedule of development works.

Mr Jamil said PC-I of the development scheme of Rani Bagh had been prepared and Rs50 million had been allocated for the project which included establishment of a new zoo with maximum number of species and provision of natural environment to them, installation of different latest thrilling rides, a play land, a food street and parks. He said renovation of the Eidgah and mosque and the Abbas Bhai Park was also included in the plan.

He hoped that after development of Rani Bagh, the people of Hyderabad in particular, and of interior of Sindh in general, would enjoy unmatched recreational and entertainment facilities at nominal charges.

He said district departments had been directed to improve their performance. He also asked officers concerned to monitor ongoing development works and not to compromise on the quality.

He said the principle of the district government was to ensure optimum utilization of development funds to make government investment fruitful.

HUNGER STRIKE: Activists of the Jeay Insaan Tehrik observed a hunger strike outside the press club on Saturday to express solidarity with Mannu Bheel.

Party chairman Manthar Solangi led the protesters.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Solangi said that the authorities were fully aware as to who had kidnapped Mannu Bheel’s family members and where they were being detained but no action was being taken against the culprits.
