LAHORE: Veteran jurist, former law minister and ex-senator Syed Muhammad Zafar, known as SM Zafar, was laid to rest on Friday in a local graveyard.

His funeral was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life, including sitting and retired judges, lawyers and politicians.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Muhammad Ameer Bhatti, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Faisal Zaman Khan, former chief justice Umar Ata Bandial, PPP leader Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, former governor Sardar Latif Khosa, former federal minister Khwaja Saad Rafiq, Qasim Zia and Farid Paracha of Jamat-i-Islami were among the prominent figures who offered the funeral prayer for the veteran lawyer.
