Meta has tendered an apology for appending the word “terrorist” to the profiles of certain Instagram users who identified themselves as Palestinian, BBC reports.

Meta said it has rectified the problem “that briefly caused inappropriate Arabic translations” in some of its products.

“We sincerely apologise that this happened,” BBC quotes Meta as saying.

It said the platform has also faced accusations of suppressing content voicing support for Palestinians during the Israel-Gaza conflict.
