ISLAMABAD, Feb 10: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has strongly condemned the Hangu blasts and said that such acts of terrorism are against the spirit of Islam.

He was talking to a delegation of four Fata MNAs, headed by Haji Munir Orakzai, which called on him at the PM’s House on Friday. Other members of the delegation were Federal Minister for Tourism Syed Ghazi Gulab Jamal, Pir Noorul Haq Qadri and Dr Naseem Afridi.

The prime minister said that sectarian harmony, tolerance, brotherhood and unity were the need of the hour.

Mr Aziz told the delegation that he had discussed with the NWFP chief minister and other high-ups of security agencies the Hangu issue.

He said federal security institutions and the army took immediate steps to take control of the situation and were assisting the provincial government in restoring law and order.

The prime minister told the delegation that he had asked the NWFP chief minister to order a proper investigation and assured him of government’s full support.

He reiterated the federal government’s firm commitment to improve the living standard of the people of the tribal areas by providing education, health, roads, electricity and water facilities.
