PESHAWAR, Feb 10: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the escalation of violence in Balochistan during the past few days.

In a statement issued on Friday, the HRCP said use of weapons in clashes between the armed forces of the state and Baloch militants had a deadly fallout on non-combatants, particularly women and children.

Lack of access to humanitarian organizations was aggravating the crises as the wounded people and other victims of the conflict could not receive any medical help or humanitarian assistance, it said.

A very disturbing development was the growing trend of attacks on the houses of political leaders, it said, citing heavy shelling by armed forces that targeted the residence of Nawab Akbar Bugti.

These attacks came after threats by high state functionaries, the HRCP alleged.

Personnel of intelligence agencies raided the house of prominent leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Quetta, allegedly broke the doors and took away with them three persons who were guarding the house.
