Two hammered to death in Khoski

BADIN, Feb 7: Two people were killed and another seriously injured in an attack with hammers in Khoski town (Badin taluka) late on Monday night.

Initial reports reveal that Chaudhry Ghulam Mohammad alias Mamoon, 45, Iqbal Chaudhry, 26, and domestic servant Sawan Bhatti, 10, went to bed after having dinner in the house situated in Ghulam Mohalla.

The other family members had earlier left for Punjab to attend a marriage ceremony.

Some criminals reportedly broke into the house of the Chaudhris and hit hammers on their heads and escaped.

Chaudhry Ghulam Mohammad died instantly while Iqbal Gujjar and Sawan Bhatti survived the attack who were immediately removed to the Civil Hospital Badin from where they were referred to Hyderabad.

Iqbal Gujjar, however, succumbed to injuries on way to hospital.

The accused, before leaving the spot, also rummaged the household items.

The relatives of the deceased said that similar incidents also took place in Faisalabad, Punjab, where another relative of the deceased was murdered on the same night.

The motive behind the murder is said to be a dispute over property.

MOSQUE DISPUTE: Tension prevailed in Khorwah town in Shaheed Fazil Rahoo taluka after two groups raised slogans against each other.

The two groups had a dispute over a mosque in Khorwah and the matter was pending in the court of law.

Recently one of the groups demanded change of the route of Muharram procession while the other insisted to use the disputed route.

Badin police arrested five people from both sides and deployed a heavy contingent in Khorwah.
