Protest against Hesco

SUKKUR, Feb 6: About 150 people from different villages of the district staged a protest demonstration on Monday in protest against non-supply of power for 25 days. They also staged a sit-in outside the press club and office of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company.

They belonged to Majeed Mahar, Imam Bux, Soomar, Jam Ladho, Bashir Mangi, Baiji and other villages of the Sukkur district.

Imdad Mangi and Ali Bux Mahar led the protesters.

They raised slogans against Hesco officials.

They marched towards the Hesco office located at Minara road where they staged a sit-in for about two hours.

The protesters were raising slogans against Hesco officials, who according to them, had disconnected electricity to their villages for the last 25 days and were demanding gratification for restoration.

On the occasion, the superintendent engineer operation, Hesco Sukkur, told the protesters that conductors supplying power to their villages were stolen.

He assured them that electricity to their villages would be restored with two days.

muharram: The Shahbaz Rangers have finalized all arrangements to maintain law and order during Muharram, according to an official press note issued on Monday.

In charge of the rangers in the note said that special security would be provided at mosques, Imam Bargahs, and on mourning procession routes.

The rangers have established control rooms and complaint cells to monitor the situation.

NAZIM: District Nazim Nasir Hussain Shah taking notice of shortage of sugar has directed the Utility Stores to open more outlets in the district.

He was talking to management of Utility Stores and Small Traders Association at his office, according to official press statement issued on Monday.

Mr Shah asked nazims concerned to pay visits to the stores to monitor their performance and ensure that sugar was sold at fixed price. He said profiteering, hoarding and black-marketing would not be allowed.
