LAHORE, Feb 6: The PML-N on Monday protested against the publication of cartoon of the Holy Prophet (Peac be upon him) by newspapers of various Western countries and demanded that Pakistan should sever diplomatic ties with them.

They also lashed out at the government for its weak reaction to such a sensitive issue of religious importance. Former president Rafiq Tarar, PML-N leaders Saad Rafiq, Zaeem Qadri, Mehr Ishtiaq and others addressed the participants.

The protest was held at the Lahore Press Club, and the protesters blocked traffic for a while. The participants, carrying placards and banners, also chanted slogans against the countries where the cartoons were published. Flags of some countries were also burnt.

Mr Tarar said the Jews and Christians should bear in mind that Muslims would sacrifice everything for the honour of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him). Saad demanded that a special session of the OIC should be called so that Islamic countries could work out a joint course of action.
