Attack on journalist’s house condemned

PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists Workers (PFUJW) on Saturday condemned the attack on the house of Azam Chaudhry, president of the Lahore Press Club.

President PFUJW Shamim Shahid, secretary general Raja Riaz, and office-bearers of the affiliated units said some unknown assailants tried to barge the Mr Chaudhry’s house, and when the family put up resistance, they tortured his young son, a university student, according to a statement issued here on Saturday.

They said that the attack on Mr Chaudhry’s house and torture of his son was an attempt to silence a bold voice continuously narrating the odds of journalist fraternity. They said Mr Chaudhry was an upright person and true leader of the community, and such coward acts couldn’t pressurise him. They said that PFUJW stood with the dedicated journalist and would resist every effort to silence his voice.

The PFUJW leaders demanded a fair investigation into the incident and arrest of the culprits at the earliest.
