KASUR: After three members of a family were gunned down over a land dispute on Tuesday, police claimed to have arrested an inspector and two constable, who were allegedly injured in exchange of fire, along with three suspects from the rival party, at Rajowal village in the limits of Mandi Usmanwala police station.

As per police sources, Akram developed rivalry with police inspector Tariq Bashir Cheema over a land issue. On Tuesday, Cheema and Akram had an exchange of harsh words after former’s tractor driver entered latter’s land with a trolley loaded with sand.

Accused inspector, two other cops held in injured condition

On being informed by the driver about the incident, Akram along with some armed men, arrived at the spot and both sides exchanged fire, resulting in the death of Akram, his brother Maqsood and nephew Imran on the spot.

Meanwhile, inspector Cheema, along with two constables -- Sadique and Abdul Rehman -- sustained serious bullet injuries in the firing and were rushed to the district headquarters hospital, where doctors referred them to a hospital in Lahore given their serious condition.

Police shifted the three bodies to the DHQ Hospital for autopsy and started investigations.

Later, the police claimed to have arrested the injured inspector and constables, along with three men of the rival party.
