KARACHI, Feb 5: The City Nazim Karachi, Syed Mustafa Kamal, has asked the city government’s Community Development Department to take immediate measures with the coordination of town nazims for the establishment of a citizens community board (CCB).

He asked officials concerned to take initiatives to ensure the establishment of basic departments under the Sindh Local Government Ordinance (SLGO), said a statement on Sunday.

It said the EDO of Community Development Department, Rehana Yousuf, had launched a programme for imparting training to some 36 officials of the Social Welfare Department to enable them to perform their duties with the coordination of elected representatives of various towns.

After completion of the training of Social Welfare officials, the interested people, who want to join the CCB, would be asked to submit their applications at the Social Welfare Department offices of their respective towns.

It is expected that the CCB would be established within the next six months.—APP
