Patron’s Cup: Shahzad, Babar shine

LAHORE, Feb 4: Half-centuries by Shahzad Malik and Babar Naeem led PTCL to a six-wicket win over Service Industries in the first round match of the Patron’s Cup at the Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on Saturday.

Shahzad hit 58 off 59 balls with four fours and one six while opener Babar faced 72 in making 58 with six fours and one six as PTCL raced to the winning target of 248 in 44.5 overs for the loss of four wickets.

Earlier Babar with Usman Tariq (49, five fours, 75 balls) shared an opening stand of 121.

A fine knock of 82 of Khurram Shahzad helped Service pile up 247 for seven in 50 overs.

Khurram, who cracked six fours and one six off 84 balls, steadied the innings together with Sohail Ahmed (48, two fours, 107 balls) as the pair put on 113 for the fourth wicket after Service lost three wickets for 65 runs.
