BAHAWALPUR, Feb 4: A three-day national ophthalmology conference began here at the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College on Saturday.
QMC Principal Prof Dr Khursheed Qureshi inaugurated the conference, being participated by about 200 eye specialists from all over the country.
Organizing committee head Prof Dr Ijaz Latif presented the welcome address while the visiting experts, including Prof Dr Nazeer Ahmed Aasi, head of eye department, King Edward Medical College, Lahore, and Institute of Ophthalmology, Mayo Hospital, director read papers on eye diseases and their treatment, especially cataract surgery.
Earlier, a live surgical workshop was also held at the main operation theatre complex of the Bahawalpur Victoria Hospital. Prof Dr Tehseen-un-Nabi Sahi, Prof Dr Tariq Arian, Prof Ejaz Latif, Dr Soufia Farrukh and others conducted the workshop.
On the occasion, Prof Dr Nazeer Ahmed Aasi inaugurated an exclusive operation theatre for eye patients. The theatre was named after Dr Nazeer Aasi, who also served at the QMC.
BAN: Nazim Tariq Cheema has banned pillion-riding in the district. The ban will remain effective till 10th of Muharram.
Meanwhile, the district nazim has also banned all sorts of processions other than those related to Muharram. —Correspondent
