KASUR, Feb 3: Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Badardin on Friday sentenced six people to cutting of hands or legs and 54-year collective imprisonment, plus Rs100,000 fine.
According to reports, Mahanda and his accomplices stormed into M. Sadique’s house at Harali Kumharan Wali seven years ago and chopped off the hands and feet of four people.
Local civil judge Rana M. Arif ordained the similar punishment for the accused but they submitted an appeal against the decision.
Taking up the appeal, the additional district and sessions judge ordered cutting of hand, 14-year imprisonment and Rs10,000 fine to Ali Akbar, cutting of hands, seven-year jail and Rs10,000 fine to Ali Sher, Ahmaddin and Fateh Muhammad.
Convict Farzand’s left leg would be chopped off as ordered by the court while Shaukat Ali will face five-year imprisonment and pay Rs50,000 fine.
Saeeda Bibi and Zareena Bibi were absolved of the crime and released.
CHECK POST: A police check post has been established on the Khara Road on the demand of trade and other organizations.
The district police officer during a meeting with the Anjuman-i-Shehryan and Tajran ordered to establish a check post which is manned by a sub-inspector, an assistant sub-inspector and two other officials.
