LAHORE, Jan 31: No clue to robbers who looted over Rs36.1 million railway employees’ salaries could be found even after the lapse of a month.
Constable Nawaz of the Pakistan Railways Police had, with the help of his three unidentified so far accomplices, taken away all the amount brought at the divisional pay office of the Mughalpura Workshops for payment of salaries to 5,000 or so employees on the night between Dec 28 and 29 last.
The robbery was stated to be the biggest in the city history.
Raids were being conducted but the railways police have yet to extract any concrete information from the relatives and friends of Constable Nawaz who had either been taken into custody or interrogated many a time since Dec 29.
The railways authorities had on Dec 31 last announced a reward of Rs1 million for information leading to the arrest of Nawaz.
