More uplift funds sought for Lakki

LAKKI MARWAT, Jan 31: The Lakki Marwat District Council approved annual budget for 2005-06 on Tuesday after a two-day heated debate.

Taking part in the debate, the councillors called upon the district and provincial governments to allocate more funds for provision of basic amenities in the district.

They suggested allocation of special funds for promotion of sporting activities and provision of electric transformers in Lakki city.

District Nazim Humayun Saifullah Khan told the council that the federal government would soon release Rs50 million for village electrifi-cation programme in the district.

The nazim said that besides transparent utilisation of funds, consultations would be made with union council nazims and district council members before launching development schemes.—Correspondent
