LONDON, Jan 27: Monty Panesar was called up Friday to fill the vacant spin berth for England’s forthcoming three-Test tour of India. The uncapped 23-year-old left-armer, who has become the first Sikh to be picked for a senior England squad, is now set to head to his parents’ homeland in two weeks’ time.

His call-up caps a remarkable few months for Panesar who in September failed to gain selection for England’s Academy squad.
