LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IGP) retired Capt Usman Anwar inaugurated the promotion of Punjab police’s new short film titled ‘Muhafiz’ at the Central Police Office in Lahore. The 28-minute short film, produced by a group of students from Punjab University, led by law student Khadim Hussain, portrays the challenges faced by a young and upright police officer as he tries to balance his duty with his family commitments.
The film is set to be screened after Eidul Azha.
This is the second film production project by the Punjab police, with the first film titled ‘Daal Chawal’ being produced in 2019, written by the Islamabad IGP Akbar Nasir Khan, who was then the chief operating officer of the Punjab Safe City Authority. The first film aimed to showcase the sacrifices of the Punjab police and their status as a modern, well-functioning, and technologically developed force, while also including a love story.
The purpose of the second film, Muhafiz, is to present true facts about the police to the public and counter unnecessary criticism. The film also highlights the efforts and challenges faced by a professional police officials in the line of duty.
“It also covers the great efforts and challenges to his career a professional police official faces in the line of duty,” says Dr Anwar.
He said that the film was produced using the pocket money of Khadim Hussain and his fellow students from Punjab University, who had completed an internship at the Central Police Office and gained firsthand knowledge of the challenges faced by police personnel.
The trailer of the film has been shared on social media, and the police department has received great appreciation from the public. Notably, all the artists involved in the film production are male and female students from the university.
RESUMES DUTY: DIG Operations Ali Nasir Rizvi, who had undergone major eye surgeries after he was injured in the May 9 riots, resumed his duty on Tuesday.
He visited the Central Police Office and met IGP Dr Usman Anwar. He also held meetings with senior police officers, station house officers and other relevant staff and issued necessary instructions.
He was among nearly 150 police officers and officials who came under attack by a mob of the PTI on May 9.
During his treatment at the hospital, DIG Sadiq Dogar and Imran Kishwar performed duties of DIG operation on a look after basis.
