LAHORE, Jan 26: The Indian government will conduct a trial run of the Amritsar-Nankana Sahib bus service on Friday (today). A 12-member Indian delegation, led by Punjab Transport Secretary A.R. Talwar, will be on the bus expected to reach Wagah border around 9.30am.

The Pakistan government and the PTDC officials would receive the bus at the border and then accompany the visitors to Nankana Sahib. The Indian bus driver and officials would examine the route and other arrangements up to Nankana Sahib. The Indian delegation would return Lahore for an overnight stay and then return home on Saturday (tomorrow).

It is learnt that the Pakistan government had postponed the reciprocal trial run of its bus from Nankana Sahib to Amritsar scheduled for Jan 29 (Sunday). It will now operate its bus on a trial basis on Feb 11. The bus would return on Feb 12 after an overnight stay.

The two governments had stated in a joint statement that the regular bus service on the Nankana Sahib-Amritsar route would be launched within a month after the trial run. The one-way fare for the service would be Pakistani Rs1,200 and Indian Rs1,000.
