GILGIT, Jan 26: The government has approved the setting up of 14 primary schools in 14 villages in Gilgit’s rural areas.

Educational authorities said that each of these schools would be built at a cost of Rs800,000.

They said the move was aimed at improving the area’s overall literacy rate with a focus on increasing girl’s enrolment.

Officials said the government accorded top priority to women education in the area for which a number of schools and train-ing centres were being opened up.
