National Accounts Committee meets after several postponements

ISLAMABAD: In an unexpected turn of events, the National Accounts Committee (NAC) met on Wednesday to conclude the calculations for Pakistan’s economic indicators for the current fiscal year (2022-23).

The meeting, held at the Planning Commission late in the night, was earlier rescheduled several times for reasons that remain undisclosed.

Led by Planning Secretary Zafar Ali Shah, the NAC meeting was marked by a significant development. However, an official statement is set to be released on Thursday (today).

The NAC predicts how much Pakistan’s economy will grow and provides estimates for various important economic factors. These include figuring out the overall size of the economy and determining the average income per person.
