LAHORE, Jan 23: Income Tax service centres will be established in six commercial areas of Lahore from Tuesday (today) till Feb 14 for receipt of tax returns from businessmen under the universal self-assessment scheme.
The first centre was established on Lytton Road on Monday and Tuesday (today), the second and third on Shalimar Link Road and Chah Miran on Jan 30 and 31, the fourth and fifth at Shah Alam Market and Urdu Bazaar in the first week of February and the sixth at Allama Iqbal Town on Feb 13 and 14.
Disclosing this, Income Tax Commissioner of Zone B, Eastern Region, Khawar Khurshid Butt, said that centres were being set up under the Central Board of Revenue policy of providing facilities to taxpayers at their doorstep.
Traders, who had not submitted their tax returns for the year 2005, could still submit the same at these centres and could contact presidents and general secretaries of their associations for assistance.
He said the business community was paying income tax on power bills but it could get it adjusted against the payable tax or claim refund only by filing tax returns and having NTN numbers.
