PESHAWAR, Jan 20: NWFP Chief Minister Akram Durrani has said the ‘bombing of a Bajaur village by US-led coalition forces’ is a threat to regional peace, and asked the coalition troops to avoid attacking the soil of an independent country. “We deplore the incident and the people of Pakistan and politicians are of unanimous view that such incidents are unacceptable”, the chief minister told French Ambassador Regis De Balenet on Thursday.

The ambassador, who had called on Mr Durrani at his secretariat, expressed grief over the devastation caused by the October earthquake and said the French government was providing $94 million aid for relief and reconstruction efforts.

The ambassador said the French government would cooperate with the Sarhad and Afghan chambers of commerce to promote trade in the region.
