HARIPUR, Jan 19: District Nazim Yousaf Ayub Khan has said that the district government was committed to resolving people’s problems putting aside party affiliations and political differences. “We all won district council slots in a party-less election, therefore we need to serve communities accordingly, putting aside our political groupings and affiliations,” he said while addressing the Haripur district council at its first formal session here on Thursday.

Convener Safdar Zaman presided over the session.

Earlier, councillors introduced themselves to the nazim and assured him of cooperation for the development of the 45 union councils of Haripur.

Speaking on the occasion, the district nazim vowed to provide healthcare and educational facilities, and water and electricity in all the UCs.

He said work on 28 ongoing uplift schemes would be completed soon.

About the devolution of power, Mr Yousaf told the members that he had directed the revenue department to arrange monthly visits of tehsildar with the consultation of union council nazim concerned. All line agencies had been asked to cooperate with the union council nazims and district councillors, he added.
