PESHAWAR: Pakistan Peoples Party provincial president Syed Mohammad Ali Shah Bacha has pledged to reorganise the party by following the thoughts and ideas of its founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.

Paying rich tributes to PPP founding chairman Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto on his 44th death anniversary, he said in a statement that April 4 was the darkest day of the country’s history.

“On this day an elected premier was hanged by a military dictator,” he added.

He said that the killing of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was not the killing of an individual, but it was the murder of the economy and system of Pakistan.

He said that his services and sacrifices for democracy were unforgettable.

He was the only politician, who served the poor and enabled them to stand up for getting their rights, he added.

Mr Bacha said that the PPP founder was popular not only in Pakistan but also in the entire Islamic world.

He said that the establishment of Pakistan Steel Mills, Port Qasim, revolutionary initiatives in industry, health, education, labour and other institutions were part of the great policies of Shaheed Bhutto that would always be remembered.

He said that the revolutionary thoughts of Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto prompted his opponents to remove him from their path and a military dictator overthrew his government and later martyred him in a false case.

He said that Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto set new paths for the welfare and development of the people of the third world.

He gave the slogan of bread, cloth and shelter to the people to end poverty and brought politics out of the drawing rooms, he added.

He said that PPP founder gave the first unanimous constitution to the country that was signed by the heads of all political parties.

“This achievement will always be remembered in the country’s political history,” he added.

He said that they would reorganise PPP to make it stronger by following the thoughts, ideas and manifesto of its martyred leader.

Similarly, Peoples Doctors Forum provincial president Dr Nisar Khan and general secretary Dr Daud said that their leader was hanged in the darkness of night for his uncommitted crime.

They said rulers buried Bhutto’s body but his ideology could not be killed. “Bhutto is a symbol of struggle, revolution and democracy. That is why whenever Pakistani politics is discussed, people mention his name,” said Dr Nisar.

Likewise, PPP Peshawar city activists including Zulfiqar Afghani, Tariq Rahim and others paid tributes to Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and said that he enabled the poor to raise voice for their rights.

They said that Bhutto was a matchless leader in Pakistani politics and that was why despite the passage of 44 years, he was still alive in the hearts of people.
